This moment, forever in my heart

Designing for CraftBox – a DL sized wedding tag using Floral Memories paper collection, the daisies page.

Layering lace netting and cotton lace with scraps of paper to create interest, and enhance the focal point mini tag on tag, these papers need little else in embellishment due to their amazing design details.

forever-in-my-heart-tag
To define the layers I have edged them with dark ink, and on the feature mini tag, edged with random smudges of gold gilding flakes. The tiny writing stamp adds extra dimension and interest.
The paper design hints at glitter clusters, which have been realised on the finished tag.

forever-in-my-heart-detail3Dimensional resin embellishments of heart frame and butterfly have been treated with random gold gilding flakes and a spritz of tattered angels glimmer mist, allowing the natural resin colour to show through in places.

2 brass rings and some embroidery thread add the final touches before a sprinkle of glitter flake and glitter.

This tag could be used as a wedding card, anniversary card or as the tag for your wedding gift.

I’ll never forget this

Designing for CraftBox. – Trying something completely different, a journal page using Floral Memories paper collection, the fuchsia page.

never-forget-journal-page-sneekPeek

I have been going through a bit of a Christian plateau, wanting that burning faith of the younger days, then the Lord found a way to show his faithfulness.  I wanted to try something different, so designed a journal page to record the two verses that keep coming to me: Proverbs 3:5-6 and Isiah 41:10.

never-forget-journal-page

I began by tearing two book pages and mounting them on some card packaging.  Being careful that any words showing would not cause offence.

Then a resist layer of Gel medium through a flourish stencil.  Matching the pink and purple colours of the paper I sprayed with Tattered angles glimmer mists.

The papers feature a gold lattice texture design which I recreated with a snippet of Scrapiniec lattice chipboard in gold mica powder.  Other features of the paper include lace (I used rub on’s) and corner stamping.

I finished embellishing with iridescent flakes and glitter, gems for butterfly bodies, embroidery thread and silver finishing wax on the hand coloured leaves.

I have added my texts electronically so that I can offer the layout to someone else who may be in need of uplifting.

Cherished times, never forgotten

Designing for Craftbox using the floral memories paper collection, the roses page, a 12×6 inch layout in delicate shades and silver accents.

cherished-times-sneekPeekI have used 7 texture types in this layered photo layout; stamping, torn paper, hardware elements, soft elements, paper florals, gems, microbeads and glitter.

cherished-times-using-floral-memoriesUsing the roses paper, building up layers of interest, I applied pink and pale mauve glitter paste through a flourish stencil.  Stamped script with white ink.  Layered torn paper and recycled lace.  I fussy cut the roses design in three sizes and decoupaged to build up depth.

The layout has silver accents in both the hardware corner and the silver embossed Snipart frame with lace#5.  Tiny gunmetal and silver microbeads add minute detail.

cherished-times-detail1The beautiful delicate pink and mauve colour palette is echoed by the use of Blue Skies ombre beads, iridescent glitter flakes, candy floss glitter glue and ombre embroidery thread.

There are 7 dimensional paper blooms to enhance the layered roses in the paper design.

The layout is finished with recycled diamante jewellery adding a touch of opulence, and leaves have been allowed to extend beyond the edges of the design.

Featuring a Tim Holtz Lost relative antique photograph.

Beautiful eyes

WW1-Jun18-beautiful-eyes-sneekPeekI created this 12×12 scrapbook page to welcome our latest team member Mytens to the team. And for the June 18 blog challenge White with 1  – Space frontier deep gray

The advantage of working in monochrome is that you can concentrate on design and texture.  Design was sorted with the sketch which I followed.

Texture was achieved through; stamping on linen effect card, Tim Holtz tissue paper, Prima You and me deep grey paper with torn edges, soft layers including thread, lace and cheesecloth dyed with Tim Holtz black ink.  Using black stars glitter paste through an ink blot stencil, delicate line rub-ons and stickers for a deeper crisper design.

The text element is from the Collins book of quotations about Cats, including Macavity, the poem quoted in my husbands favourite film ‘Logans Run’.

I made some florals from layers of book paper, with gold and teal mica powder and deep ultrathick glossy accents to give a wet look. My husband thinks they look metallic.

The sketch inspired me to add an acetate butterfly. Every layout should have a butterfly.

Introducing Mytens

mytens-web-imageMytens was advertised by Cats Protection as being 8 years old, she is actually 3. Her black is a deep velvet black with a russet undercoat. She is very cute but fiercely independent having spent time as a street homeless cat.  She has such delicate feet with little white mittens on, and a string tail, though I am sure it will grow. And she has beautiful creamy Jade eyes, with a dot in the right eye.

She has been trained to get up on the dining room chair to receive her treats which makes life much easier for my wheelchair husband who cant bend to the floor.

And she curls up to cat nap on my lap.

I always wanted a lap cat.

Life is the journey

June 2018 More than words challenge.
MTW-Jun18 challenge

Word Inspiration – JOURNEY
Creative Challenge – MAP

What does the word JOURNEY inspire you to create?
For this month’s creative challenge, we want you to use a MAP to get creative and go exploring! We want to see something from a map on your project. You may decide to add components like land outlines, roads, a compass, arrows, a legend or even a globe. You may want to tuck a piece of the map itself in between your paper layers or make your entire background a map. Let the map be your guide and inspiration on your creative journey.

Believe

Life is a journey, heaven the destination

I have used a map as the background paper for this canvas, and lots of journey ephemera hints such as direction arrows, a bicycle and a place marker.  My feature image is a compass on the bible.

I love the pale blue used in the printing of the ocean on the map page, and used that as my feature colour, making layers from the Stamperia Bioccato Estense papers also in delicate powder blues.

Believe in detail:

I picked out the grid pattern of the printed map with Snipart irregular background finished in white embossing powder;
Unique4charity-Jun18-believe-detail2My title is in two parts, a subtitle imprinted on the feature photograph, with its spiritual message; “life is a journey, Heaven the destination” and a main title ‘believe’ in puffy sticker;Unique4charity-Jun18-believe-detail4
I fussy cut the floral arrangement from the Stamperia papers, and highlighted some petals in glitter as a background for the title.   This overlaps the bottom corner of the photograph.

I used several journey and map related embellishments in the form of puffy sticker direction arrows and ‘here’ marker.  Unique4charity-Jun18-believe-detail1Time is also a part of the journey.

I included a bicycle sticker on the lower layer to keep with the journey theme.

The layout was finished with a few paper leaves and blooms from wild orchid through craft box, open weave muslin and blue embroidery thread.

Thank you for looking.
